Teaching has the highest burnout rate of any profession in many countries. The causes are structural — workload, low pay, lack of support — but the recovery path is still real and personal.
Sometimes the answer is yes. But often a different school, grade, or subject — or a sabbatical year — is enough.
They overlap. Compassion fatigue is the secondary trauma of caring for struggling students. Burnout is broader depletion.
A full summer break usually is not enough at advanced burnout. Plan for 6–12 months of structural changes.
